SHE'S newly single, and by the looks of it, ready to mingle - or at the very least let her hair down.

Heidi Klum was the life and soul of the party at the 20th Annual Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards Viewing Party in Beverly Hills.

Heidi was clearly in the mood for fun, and was pictured leading her star-studded table in toasts as they enjoyed rounds of cocktails over dinner at the viewing party.

As she stood up to pose for pictures with Bar, 26, the models turned their backs on the camera and cheekily patted each others' backsides, with Heidi licking her lips and winking provocatively.

She also posed for happy snaps with her friend and fellow recent singleton Kim Kardashian and pregnant sister Kourtney.

Back at the table, the former Victoria's Secret Angel was pictured chatting merrily to Desperate Housewives star Kyle MacLachlan and his wife Desiree Gruber.

Heidi got a stronghold on the couple, pushing their heads together in an enforced act of PDA for the cameras.

The mother-of-four tweeted her own pictures from inside the soiree, posing with Desiree and Smokey Robinson.

It has been reported that a number of high-profile guests were invited to the bash by Elton John to cheer them up after recent relationship break-ups.

Heidi, Kim Kardashian and Katy Perry were all asked to attend ! by the s inger, who wanted this year's event to be more rowdy than previous years, and thought that the newly-single stars would liven things up a bit, the Daily Mirror claims.

'It was his idea to invite some of the highest profile, newly-single female celebs in town,' a source told the paper. 'He thinks its a great way to put a smile back on their faces, and hopefully land them new men. He got in touch last month to personally offer Heidi and Katy his support, and invite them to his bash.'

Heidi and husband Seal announced the end of their marriage last month, while Katy and Russell Brand parted ways in December and Kim ended her short-lived marriage to Kris Humphries in October.

Meanwhile, Bladerunner actress Sean Young was arrested after a scuffle with a security guard at another Oscars after party.

Police Commander Andrew Smith said Young, 52, was placed under citizen's arrest at the Governors Ball last night after the dispute.

"She was trying to get into the party and couldn't get in," he said.

Young, who has starred in Blade Runner and Stripes, was booked at the Hollywood police station for investigation of misdemeanour battery.

She posted $US20,000 ($18,748) bail and was released early this morning .

Tom Januszewski, an Associated Press business executive who witnessed the incident, said the actress, who was wearing a ball gown, was taken into custody quickly.

He said he saw a guard subdue Young by placing his forearm on her neck and head while other guards placed her in handcuffs and led her away.

"It happened incredibly fast," Mr Januszewski said.

The actress tried to crash the Vanity Fair Oscar party in 2006. She entered rehabilitation for alcohol abuse in 2008 after she was removed from the Directors Guild of America awards.

Some 39.3 million Americans watched the Oscars ceremony on television, up from the 37.6 million audience in 2011,

Despite the jibes from critics about being old-fashioned, the Internet was abuzz with Oscar talk as millions of people watched and chatted online before and after the telecast. ABC said four million people visited website Oscar.com or used an Oscar smartphone app on Sunday alone.

Social media tracker Trendrr said social activity during the show - ranging from online buzz to Twitter comments and Facebook 'likes' - doubled from 2011 to 4.2 million hits on Sunday. Red Carpet coverage brought 3.9 million hits.

Meryl Streep, who was a surprise best actress winner over presumed front-runner Viola Davis, attracted the most mentions on social media, Trendrr said. The most-mentioned actor was "The Artist" star Jean Dujardin.

Angelina Jolie set the online world alight when she thrust her leg out of her thigh-high slit dress while presenting an award. Within minutes, a Twitter account had been set up with the handle "angiesrightleg," and by Monday it had some 17,000 followers.
