While the German supermodel chose not to discuss the couple's decision to part ways, the British singer gave a number of interviews about the matter with the media.
Seal, who was married to Klum for seven years and renewed his wedding vows annually, has argued that he felt it was his duty to explain what went wrong in their seemingly perfect relationship.
He told Australian radio station 2Day FM: "When you publicise your marriage as much as our marriage was publicised, when you renew wedding vows, when you do all those things you are giving them a picture of an ideal relationship, of a relationship that people aspire towards.
"When it goes south you can't all of a sudden take the philosophy of [a] Celestine monk and decide to go for a vow of silence, it doesn't really work like that.
"And while I respect my wife's decision not to talk about it, I felt that people at least deserved some kind of explanation."
He has previously said that he will never rule out the possibility of a reconciliation with Klum, insisting: "My love for her has not waned one iota. I love her with all my heart. How can you not love! somebod y [who] you've spent eight years with?"
