'50 Shades' author E.L. James, Heidi Klum and Jennifer Lopez among first guests on Katie Courics new daytime talk show
The list of the first guests for Katie Courics new daytime talk show Katie has been released and it includes big-name celebrities like Jennifer Lopez, Heidi Klum, Barbra Streisand and 50 Shades Of Grey author E.L. James.
Katie will debut nationwide on Sept. 10. The first shows guests will include singer and fashion designer Jessica Simpson, who will be on to talk about how much her life has changed since becoming a mother in May. Sheryl Crow will also come on the show to talk about her recently diagnosed brain tumor for the first time on TV. Crow also penned Katies theme song, This Day.
On Sept. 11, Couric will interview 24-year-old Aimee Copeland, who lost part of her limbs after fighting a rare flesh-eating bacteria. She will discuss how she has become acclimated to life with prosthetics and how she made it through the recovery process.
Other upcoming guests include Streisand, Lopez, Klum, actress Susan Sarandon, comedian Chelsea Handler and Modern Familys Sofia Vergara. Wendy Williams and Demi Lovato will also appear.
Couric will have James first in-depth interview on TV since 50 Shades of Grey became a phenomenon earlier this year.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Katie will also feature people in the news. In addition to Copland, Raffaele Sollecito, the ex-boyfriend of Amanda Knox, will also be interviewed by Couric. Sharon and Lexie Love will be on to talk about the murder of their daughter and sister, Yeardley, by her ex-boyfriend at the University of Virginia. The episode will center on dating violence.
Katie is filmed in New York and is executive produced by Katie Couric and Jeff Zucker. It is distributed by Disney-ABC Domestic Television.
