Heidi Klum, Seal confirm separation

Heidi Klum and Seal have confirmed that they are to separate after seven years of marriage.

It was reported on Saturday (January 21) that Klum planned to file divorce papers citing irreconcilable differences, although this was later denied by a friend of the couple and a statement issued on Sunday night (January 22) makes no reference to divorce proceedings.

"While we have enjoyed seven very loving, loyal and happy years of marriage, after much soul-searching we have decided to separate," the couple said.

"We have had the deepest respect for one another throughout our relationship and continue to love each other very much, but we have grown apart. This is an amicable process and protecting the well-being of our children remains our top priority, especially during this time of transition.

"We thank our family, friends and fans for their kind words of support. And for our children's sake, we appreciate you respecting our privacy."

Klum and Seal married in a ceremony on Costa Careyes beach in Mexico on May 10, 2005. They used to renew their wedding vows each year on their anniversary.

They are parents to two sons and a daughter - 6-year-old Henry, 5-year-old Johan and 2-yea! r-old Lo u - while Seal is adoptive father to Klum's eldest daughter, 7-year-old Leni.
