MTV Europe Music Awards: Heidi Klum shocks in revealing tie-up blue and gold dress as she arrives to host bash

Heidi Klum may have been the hostess of this year's MTV Europe Music Awards, but she certainly wasn't winning the battle of the red carpet.

For her first of many outfits at the star-studded ceremony in Frankfurt, the 39-year-old left little the imagination in a revealing dress.

The mother-of-four showed off a lot of cleavage in the lace-up blue and gold studded Versace gown as she arrived on the red carpet.

With this year's ceremony being held in her native Germany, the supermodel was a natural choice to host the awards.

As well as the rather skimpy number she arrived in, Heidi is expected to wow the crowds in a variety of costumes throughout the e! vening.

Ahead of the show she revealed: 'I have six different outfits from Versace that I love very much and I think for an event like the MTV awards I usually have a little bit more fun, I can be a little bit more sexy, a little more rock 'n' roll.

'So they have got me beautiful outfits, great shoes and great jewellery, but it depends how much time I have to change in between (hosting) because it's all live.'

It wasn't long until Heidi had her first outfit change and changed in to a cream strapless dress, with cut-out detailing.

The top half of the dress, which appeared to be woven, turned into a large puffball skirt.

She completed the look with a bizarre top hat and leather fingerless gloves.

Ahead of the awards, Heidi and PSY had been practising the Gangnam Style dance.

In a Twitter photo, Heidi was seen wearing PSY's signature blue suit and glasses as she enjoyed a masterclass with him.

Heidi admitted she regularly performe! d the dan! ce with her four children.

She said recently: 'Ill have to perform it. I have four small children and they are obsessed with the song. We do Gangnam dance parties at the house.'

Heidi wasn't the only guest to arrive at the awards in a questionable ensemble.

British singer and daughter of Bob Geldof, Pixe Geldof opted for a completely contrasting look to host Heidi.

She covered up in a full length, long sleeved dress, which appeared to be knitted, in a range of autumnal colours.

Accompanying the rather casual looking dress, Pixie wore a pair of platform sandals which her feet seemed to be a bit big for.

She accessorised with a large red, foil-like clutch bag and kept her make-up very minimal.
